English for Health Care Professionals

Program Description:
The program will allow Healthcare professionals (Doctors, nurses, pharmacists, physical therapists, dentists, lab technicians), to gain the theoretical knowledge and practice language skills linked to reading, writing, speaking, and listening within the working context of the healthcare / medical fields.  

 The English for Health Care Professionals program includes 120 hours of in-class education (theory and practice)  6-8 weeks

The program contains two courses.

Learning Objectives:

General Objective: Competency in both practical language use and the theory necessary to understand the terminology and its context of use in health care practice. The program is focused on practical applications for new vocabulary and language as well as practical skills related to medical communication

Career Opportunities:
Graduates may apply the professional language skills they gain in a variety of health care contexts, including health centres, clinics, hospitals, and medical offices.

 Credential Awarded:                   Certificate

Program Duration:                        120 classroom hours over six weeks or part time.

Completion Requirements:
The student must complete all aspects of both courses of the program in order to graduate.

Admission Requirements:

  • Evidence of IELTS 4 score (or equivalent)
  • Or, the student can pass the school’s ESL placement assessment which may include an interview
